Merit HR is working with a non-profit organization that supports the academic, social and emotional development of students. Our client is seeking an HR Generalist for their Alameda location (shuttle to BART). This is a direct hire opportunity.

What you will do:

* Support the HR Director with day-to-day operations
* Assist in the implementation of human resources programs
* Administration of benefits programs, including enrollments, changes, terminations, and renewals
* Assist with the performance management process
* Work with hiring managers to recruit and coordinate job descriptions, sourcing, interviewing and applicant tracking activities
* Administration of leaves of absence in compliance with federal and state regulations
* Assist in analyzing benefits programs, recommend modifications and coordinate annual benefits enrollment
* Manage new hire on boarding and orientation as well as termination and exit processes

What we're looking for:

* A jack- (or jane-) of-all-trades to provide a high level of HR support
* 3-5 years of HR Generalist experience
* BS Degree
* Thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment
* General Payroll knowledge and experience - Paylocity knowledge, a plus
* Benefit administration experience, plan design and insurance options
* Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and office equipment and applications
